One of Burt Reynolds' least favorite things is posing for still photographers!
In fact, he hates it.
I am blessed; for the past several years I have photographed him, his family and friends. We have become so close now, that he doesn't even know I'm around and even gets the giggles when we exchange looks about certain people in his company - "the camera in your hands, dear Lisa," he says, "sometimes is my third eye."
This is a collection of images and observations. It's certainly not intended to be a literary masterpiece - I'm sharing my adventures with a living legend! My gift is visual, which I have learned to express through the lens of my camera, capturing people just being themselves (very few posed or "photo shoot" pictures). The words became a verbal commentary of what was occurring at the time. We never did "interviews" and quotes were written on the back of an envelope, a scrap of paper, or whatever was handy when he would start his spontaneous ramblings. So, in order not to make this a "puff piece," I've tried to cover a lot of aspects of this very complicated man, who I have seen be a brilliantly talented, charismatic artist, a loving family man and an idol with feet of clay.
