
PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL HONORS EXCELLENCE IN FILM

The 1997 Palm Beach International Film Festival will celebrate the history
and the future of cinematic theater with 10 days of world premieres, parties,
feature films, shorts, documentaries, seminars and gala events, April 10th
- April 20th, 1997. Theaters, resorts and movie houses throughout Palm
Beach County will welcome film industry leaders and entrepreneurs to the
Festival to teach, share and learn more about the art of movie making. A portion of the Festival proceeds will be donated to support film programs at Palm Beach Community College, the Palm Beach County School of the Arts and the Magnet Program for Film in Palm Beach County Schools. Last year, $75,000 was distributed in grants to these organizations. The Festival will begin on Thursday, April 10th with an "Opening Night Premiere" and reception at the Burt Reynolds Institute for Theater Training (BRITT) in Downtown West Palm Beach. A "Beach Bash" at the Palm Beach Hilton will be held on Friday, April 11th, giving industry professionals and film aficionados a chance to relax and mingle in Palm Beach's alluring atmosphere. The "Grand Gala" will be held on Saturday, April 12th at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. This elegant black-tie, star-studded event will feature actor and director honorees receiving awards from the Festival for outstanding performance and direction. On Saturday, April 19th, the Palm Beach International Film Festival will present "A Tribute to the Master of Suspense . . . Sir Alfred Hitchcock" at an elegant Gala to be held at The Breakers, Palm Beach. The Festival will close with a "Cast Party" on April 20th at the PGA National Resort and Spa. A Program Guide will be published featuring tributes to honorees, synopses of the films to be presented, and event listings and schedules. Seminars and lectures will give producers, directors, writers and actors the opportunity to share their practices and processes with an inquisitive audience. Premiere screenings of student films will give festival patrons a peek into the fresh minds of today and the hit makers of tomorrow. |
