Bistro Chez Jean Pierre
Bistro Chez Jean Pierre will remind you why you have always loved French food, ambiance and service. And the best part - all of this offered without the usual "attitude" often adopted by both staff and posers at those restaurants designated as chic. So, is Bistro Chez Jean-Pierre chic? Bien sur. Is the food great? Mais, oui. One of the splendid things about this restaurant is that the cuisine is creative but not extreme. Your brain and taste buds don't have to wager a bet as to whether novel food combinations are going to be tasty or become an exhibit at the Smithsonian Institute. One of the other things to mention at the outset is the bread: it is so so good (a sure sign of a good meal to follow). The only problem is you'll want to eat too much of it.
So let's begin with the Appetizers or First Plate comme on dit en France. Among the assortment of standard French fare is Artichoke Vinaigrette which is served cold with a vibrant vinaigrette. Among the more nouveau offerings is a Warm Shitake Mushroom Salad which is very good. For an Entree, the Salmon with Buere Blance Sauce is excellent (I have eaten it on over thirty occasions and it is always perfect). Also wonderful are the Long Island Duck and the Veal Chop with Morrels Sauce over Fettucine.
Desserts are not to be missed especially the Creme Brulee and the Profiterolles.
The ambiance is elegant but it retains warmth and familiarity. At the rear entrance is the bar which is a great place to begin the evening while waiting for friends or waiting for a table. A wait should be expected on the weekend if you don't have a reservation. So wait at the bar and do a little Palm Beach people watching. This is where Palm Beachers really eat. And it should be mentioned that, with dinner for two easily costing at least $150 absent any extraordinary wines or libations, these are Palm Beach prices but we think you will love it. Reservations strongly recommended.
